MS Geology (Environmental Hydrogeology Option) – Summer Mentoring Program
Thursday July 7th: NSS College Conference room (new Building Wing B):
9:30am: Introductions
Careers in Hydrogeology and other opportunities, we can talk about job applications/resumes etc.
10:30am: David Hughes of BonTerra Consulting, Pasadena. Presentation and open discussion
11:30am: Lunch (Bring your own or Join us at the University Club)
12:15pm: Leave for LMU/Ballona Wetlands
Visit LMU/Ballona Wetlands with Rick Shope (local watershed/wetland restoration efforts and role of educational institutions and non-profits)

1-1:30 Tour of Center for Urban Resilience research projects on campus (lab, garden, Ballona Creek overlook)
2-minute Drive to Ballona Discovery Park (Shope leads convoy)
1:45-2:15 Gateway Experience at Ballona Discovery Park (watershed awareness)
5- minute Drive to Ballona Wetlands (Shope leads convoy)
2:30-4:00 pm Tour of Ballona Wetlands (in-depth insight into research and restoration, history, and current projects)
Back by 5pm
Friday July 8th: (Bring Lunch )
8:45am leave from CSULA
Visit San Dimas Experimental Forest
--Review and History of Watershed Hydrogeology, methods in the LA region etc
