This website in an outlet for young women to voice their opinions on all aspects of the entertainment medium. Reviews are written for the latest film releases, albums, and books. There is also a database for media not so recent that you can look up. This site displays the varying opinion of young women and show that all girls do not think alike!
No Place for a Woman: The Family in Film Noir
This site displays essays written by John Blaser, describing potrayals of women's roles in film noir. Various essays describe such stock characters as "the femme fatale," "the good woman," and "the marrying type." There is also a media gallery displaying some film noir posters and links to other film noir sites.
Women in Cinema: A Reference Guide
Resources and database based from the University of Virginia, referencing women's roles in film. Site includes bibliographies, anthologies, reviews, filmographies, collections, and sources for films, womens films, and women in cinema.
Strong Women in Film
Critiques of strong female characters in films as written by students at Wellesley College. Critiques of films such as Casablanca, Gilda, and Mildred Pierce. Site also includes links to books related to women and film noir, as well as links to sites related to women in cinema as well.
Women's Studies Database Film Reviews
Reviews of recent and not so recent films from women's perspectives, mainly female professors, based in University of Maryland, College Park. Site also goes into topics of gender issues, government, and women's studies. There are also links to other websites as well.
