- Bunny
- This page shows a clip from Blue Sky's Academy Award winning
computer animated short, "Bunny." Blue Sky Studios was founded in 1987
with a mission to pioneer creatively superior photo-realistic,
high-resolution, computer-generated character animation for commercials,
feature films, and the entertainment industry. "Bunny" was the first
film to use an advanced ambient lighting technology known as radiosity,
set new standards in cinematic storytelling for the computer-animation
industry. Baking alone in her kitchen, tattered, old Bunny receives a
troublesome late-night visitor. A hairy moth, as battered as Bunny is,
seems to be stalking her, and her attempts to remove it only make it
more insistent. Bunny is forced to go through an emotional metamorphosis
that sheds a whole new light on this quirky but heart-warming tale of
loneliness and reunion. "Bunny," a seven-minute short film, written and
directed by Chris Wedge received an Oscar March 21, 1999 for Best
Animated Short Film. One of five films nominated in the category,
"Bunny" took top honors during the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and
Sciences Oscar Night ceremonies.
