Introduces the profession, the investigator’s office and laboratory, data acquisition, processing crime and incident scenes, utilization of current computer forensics tools, report writing and expert testimony in high tech investigations.

Explores the visual trial, technology and case themes, use of computer presentations in opening statements, direct examination, computer presentations in cross-examinations, and closing arguments, PowerPoint and Sanction software at trial. Choosing computer equipment in the courtroom.

| PLS 772: Database Design and Automated Discovery Techniques |
Basics of designing litigation support databases. Students learn about full-text versus abstracted document databases. Teaches objective and bibliographic document coding systems. Computerized techniques used during the litigation discovery phase will be presented including the best practices for implementing automated discovery tools, i.e. .PDFs, searching, coded and fulltext databases, tracking tools, etc.

Introduces Cyberlaw and presents the jurisdiction of Cyberlaw. Addresses constitutional law issues. Explores online business concerns and intellectual property law issues. Explains cybercrimes.
