Schedule and Calendar
There are 6 courses in the English Language Program (ELP) schedule: 5 classes meet on two days per week (either on Mondays and Wednesdays or on Tuesdays and Thursdays); 1 class meets once per week (on Fridays). Students attending on F-1 Student Visas must enroll for a Full Course of Study, which includes all 6 courses.
Similar to schedules at colleges and universities all over the United States, this plan provides teachers and students with more teaching and learning time during each class meeting. In addition, students have more time between class meetings for doing homework assignments and preparing projects. Finally, since students don’t attend every class every day, they don’t have to bring All their books Every Day.
U.S. residents may enroll for as few or as many courses as they wish. Those on F-2 Dependent Visas may enroll on a part-time basis for up to 5 courses. Visitors in the United States on B1/B2 Visas cannot enroll in this program. Check with the ELP Office for the rules concerning other types of visas.
- Grammar and Writing Classes meet together on Mondays and Wednesdays for 3 hours each meeting day. These are paired, Co-requisite Classes that meet in the same room with the same teacher. These two courses must be taken together.
- Listening and Speaking Classes meet together on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 3 hours each meeting day. They are paired, Co-requisite Classes that meet in the same room with the same teacher. These two courses must be taken together.
- Reading Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays for 1½ hour each meeting day. This course does not have a Co-requisite Class and does not have to be taken with any other course.
- College Success/TOEFL Classes meet on Fridays only for 3 hours each meeting day. This course does not have a Co-requisite Class and does not have to be taken with any other course.
