Cost of Attendance

Estimated Cost of Attendance for Each Academic Quarter (Four per Year) for 2011-2012

The Fall Quarter starts in mid September, the Winter Quarter begins in early January, the Spring Quarter starts in mid March, and the Summer Quarter begins in early July.

Students will have the following expenses when they attend the English Language Program at Cal State L.A.

*F-1 Visa Students must buy mandatory Health Insurance as a condition of studying at Cal State L.A., and prior to attending any classes in the ELP. All F-1 Visa Students must pay the premium to purchase health insurance from the provider currently approved by California State University, Los Angeles. International Student Health Insurance can be purchased on Registration Day.  The premium for International Student Health Insurance is due directly to the insurance company  These premiums range from $150 to $200 per quarter to cover the student.  Coverage for a dependent spouse or children of the student costs an additional premium, and is entirely optional.  Students must present Proof of Insurance prior to receiving their course schedules or attending classes.  We cannot make exceptions!

The Estimated Cost of Attendance for Students on F-1 Visas is
USD $24,000 for One Year.

Applicants must demonstrate that at least USD $24,000 is on deposit in a bank and available for their use as students.  For students who wish to bring a spouse or children with them, the minimum bank funds requirement of USD $24,000 will increase by USD $4,000 for a spouse and USD $2,000 for each child.  In order to request the Dependent (F-2) Forms I-20, the student must supply a Marriage Certificate for the spouse and Birth Certificates for each child.
