Orff Schulwerk Program (Music Education)
This program, based on pedagogy employing Carl Orff's music coupled with movement, provides music educators with a curriculum for teaching music through active music-making. This may include singing, movement, instrumental ensemble playing, and use of special instruments. Special topics include multicultural music traditions, folk dance, and storytelling.

Summer Choral Music Festival (Music Performance)

Three-Summer Master of Music in Choral Conducting (Choral Conducting)
A student attending three seven-week summer residency sessions may qualify for the Summer Master of Music degree, equivalent to the Masters of Music (Choral Conducting) degree offered by the Department of Music and accredited through the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Each intensive summer session prepares the student in areas of: choral pedagogy, performance practice, and applied vocal/choral training. One week of the program corresponds with Summer Choral Festival week. Note: at least 12-quarter units from an accredited university, or from a regular quarter at Cal State LA, are also required to complete this degree).
