Three-Summer Master of Music in Choral Conducting
By attending three seven-week summer residency sessions, a student may qualify for the Summer Master of Music degree, equivalent to the Masters of Music (Choral Conducting) degree offered by the Department of Music and accredited through the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Each intensive summer session prepares the student in areas of: choral pedagogy, performance practice, and applied vocal/choral training. One week of the program corresponds with Summer Choral Festival week.
Note: at least 12-quarter units from an accredited university, or from a regular quarter at Cal State LA, are also required to complete this degree).
The Summer Choral Festival provides singers and conductors an intensive week-long session of classes, rehearsals, guest lectures, and coaching sessions leading to a Saturday evening choral performance. A guest composer is often featured in residence.
