Information for Proposing a New Student Exchange Program:
New CSULA exchange programs are initiated byCSULA faculty members, departments, and colleges. At times, they may also be initiated by the International Office. We cannot accept proposals from students or those who are NOT affiliated with CSULA. These individuals should contact the appropriate academic department at CSULA to explore whether any of those departments are interested in submitting a proposal.
If you are interested in submitting a proposal, it is advisable to schedule an appointment with the Director or the Study Abroad Adviser of the International Office to initiate the discussion. At the same time, you should start discussions with your appropriate administrators for approval and support.
Submitting a Proposal
To initiate the process, a completed Proposal for a New Student Exchange Program should be submitted to the Study Abroad Adviser of the International Office.
Upon receipt of the proposal, the International Office will review it for completeness and perform "due diligence" research of the implication of the exchange on the incoming and the outgoing students, and evaluate the potential success of the exchange. If there are questions or concerns regarding the proposal, you will be notified to schedule a meeting to discuss them.
After review by the appropriate administrators, you will be notified within 3-6 weeks whether the proposal is accepted or not.
If the proposal is approved, the International Office will contact the other institution to set up the office Memorandum of Understanding and Student Exchange Agreement for signing by bith universities. Student exchanges will start only after the Official documents are signed.
The International Office's Study Abroad Adviser, with your assistance, will promote and recruit students to participate in this new student exchange program. The Study Abroad Adviser will be responsible for advising, selection, and preparation of the outgoing students. The Study Abroad Adviser will also work with the inbound exchange students by providing immigration advisement.
