There are several programs grouped in the category of "Study Abroad", but note these important differences:
- Academic year programs for 50 distinguished universities in 19 countries
- Study with U.S. and international students while earning resident credit
- Required GPA of 2.75 or higher, financial aid and scholarships available
- Applications due by December 15 (May 1 for Australia and South Africa) of the year prior to proposed study.
CSULA Exchange Programs
- International exchange opportunities for summer, semester or academic year
- Transfer credit available
- Required GPA of 2.5 or higher; financial aid and scholarships available
- Locations: Hong Kong, Japan, S. Korea and Germany
Affiliated Programs
- Semester, academic year and summer programs
- Study with U.S. and international students and earn transfer credit
- Internship, work-abroad, and volunteer opportunities available
Independent Study Programs
- Select a program that provides you with a U.S. accredited university transcript or a transcript from a recognized university in the host country
- Follow the guidelines established by the International Office when planning your independent study abroad experience
CSULA Exchange Programs
These programs are bi-lateral exchanges between CSULA and the host institution. Students can pay CSULA fees or fees at the host institution, depending on the program. Program costs and eligibility criteria vary. For program details, please schedule an appointment with the Study Abroad Advisor.

General Eligibility Criteria:
- Cumulative GPA at least 2.5, some programs have higher requirements
- Good academic standing
- CSULA student at the time of participation
- For language studies: successful completion of one language, history, or social science course relating to the region prior to departure
- For academic studies: successful completion of upper intermediate or advance level of language proficiency
Affiliated Programs
CSULA has signed affiliation agreements with the following program providers. This allows CSULA students to benefit from reduced program fees and program scholarships.

If you have not found a CSU International Program, CSULA Exchange Program, or Affiliated Program that meets your needs, you still have the opportunity to study abroad through an Independent Study Abroad Program.
The International Office can provide the following assistance to you:- Advising on how to select and apply for a non-CSULA program
- Registration to maintain student status while abroad
- Facilitation of transfer credit from host institution
To facilitate your participation in a non-CSULA program, you must complete the Study Abroad Clearance and submit it to the International Office.
