You can now earn most of the coursework credits for a Master of Music (MM) degree in Choral Conducting through an intense three-summer program, that allows you to transfer up to three regular-session classes (12 quarter units or equivalent) from an accredited university of your choice. (The three courses may also be taken during regular terms at Cal State L.A.) Each summer residency is seven weeks long and includes a one-week choral festival of study and performance with significant guest artists.

The Summer Master of Music is offered in special sessions through the Division of Extended Education and is managed through the Department of Music. There is a limitation of units which can transfer from Extended Education to regular-session programs. Once a student begins the Summer Master of Music, it is essential to complete this same program.
Students receive an intense education in choral pedagogy, performance practice, and applied vocal/choral training. The Summer Master of Music is the same degree as the one offered by the Department of Music during regular session, and it is accredited through the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
Fees
The total tuition fee for the Summer Session is $8,600. The cost varies slightly each summer, based on the number of units taken.
