Westlaw Access

A $35 Westlaw Access fee is required each quarter to accompany registration in the paralegal program courses to cover access to the Westlaw paralegal resources. An individual Westlaw password will be issued each quarter to students after they have paid and registered. If students do not received notification of their password within one week of registration, contact Robin Hall, the program coordinator, at (323) 343-4967. Passwords expire at the end of each quarter. This is a required quarterly fee.

Los Angeles Paralegal Association (LAPA)

Members of the Los Angeles Paralegal Association (LAPA) are eligible for a 10 percent discount on tuition for classes. To obtain a discount, students must submit proof of current LAPA membership on the day they register.

The Practicum course, which allows students to participate in an internship, is available each quarter, but students must contact Kathleen Leroy at (323) 343-4968 one quarter ahead of the quarter in which they plan to take the Practicum. This enables us to place the student with a law firm or public agency.

Practicum: Private or Public Sector
Prerequisite: PLS 750 or PLS 751, plus PLS 752, PLS 753, PLS 760. Word processing skills recommended.
A minimum of 12 hours per week of volunteer, study-related, work experience in a private law firm or public law agency, under the joint supervision and guidance of the CPS and sponsoring attorney.
