This certificate program examines diverse cultural mores and values and improves student interpersonal skills with individuals, groups, and families from different cultures. It also explores the services provided by non-profit agencies and invites students to participate in social service/youth agencies through volunteer participation. Among other things, students learn to
- Communicate via the internet
- Experience life with a host family from a different culture
- Work more effectively with persons from different cultures
- Reflect critically on their experiences
Admission Requirements
Open to all majors with junior standing or above.
Certificate Requirements
Students who complete all six courses (24 units) earn a certificate in Intercultural Proficiency. A limited number of courses in a student’s major may be substituted for the elective courses. Consult with your advisor.
