Sponsored jointly by Extended Education and the Department of Marketing, this certificate provides training in four functional areas of business (management, marketing, finance and accounting) and
presents computer bookkeeping and accounting systems. Students learn how to generate and test-market creative business ventures, develop marketing and business plans, and locate sources of capital for
their business. Guest speakers who are successful entrepreneurs provide several ways of gaining actual work experience in small businesses. Non-matriculated students (those not formally admitted to
the university) may enroll in the program through Open University with consent of the instructor.
Certificate Requirements
Students must complete 16 units of required courses and 8 units of elective courses with a minimum grade of C. Prerequisites include an additional 24-28 units, but these may be waived if they have
been met in other ways. Upon completion of course requirements, the student earns Certificate in Entrepreneurship, authorized by the Department of Marketing and Continuing Education.
