Pedrito Martinez Group

Fiercely original, the Pedrito Martinez Group combine Afro-Cuban rumba, Santeria’s bata beats, and North American rhythms for a unique and powerful sound. Born in Havana, Cuba, Pedrito Martinez began performing at the age of 11. Having worked as a vocalist and percussionist with Cuban legends such as Tata Güines and legendary folkloric ensemble Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, Martinez’s performance echoes the rich and passionate influences of his youth. Inventive and daring, the Pedrito Martinez Group bring together talent from Cuba, Peru, and Venezuela for what The New York Times described as “complex, blenderized Africa-to-the-New-World funk.”
