Linking Environmental Literacy and National Standards

Date and time
Thursday, April 21, 2016 - 12:00pm to 2:00pm
Location
King Hall C1066
Description

For environmental educators, the ultimate goal is the development of an environmentally literate global citizenry capable of solving current environmental issues and the prevention of future ones. But, how environmental education is conceptualized and implemented in elementary and secondary schools is critical. In this workshop we'll explore environmental literacy and address two key questions:

  • How can environmental education best support the implementation of national standards (e.g., NGSS, C3, CCSS)?
  • How can instruction designed to meet national standards also support the development of environmental literacy?
