Description
Dr. Linda Greenberg (English, Cal State LA) examines how the fax machine, a newly popular technology in the 1980s, helped connect a tight knit circle of women who would become the rising stars of Chicana feminist literature, offering a quick means for sharing ideas, aesthetics, and emotional support. Focusing on the pivotal Chicana author, Helena María Viramontes, Dr. Greenberg examines the effect of these faxed exchanges on Viramontes’ own work, as well as on the establishment of a Chicana feminist aesthetic community.
