Cal State LA History Professor Emeritus Stanley Burstein interviews History Assistant Professor Timothy Doran about his new book, Spartan Oliganthropia (Brill 2018). In it, Doran examines the cultural and social factors that led to the population decline of Ancient Sparta, with consequent damage to its political and military power. This innovative study offers us a new way to understand the evolving civilizations of the Ancient World.
