EOP SPRING 2020 WORKSHOPS
Throughout the year, EOP provides a variety of workshops designed to meet the specific needs of our students. Our Enrichment Workshops cover a wide range of topics that will allow you to explore and think about how to maximize your experience at Cal State LA. EOP students must attend a minimum of three Enrichment Workshops per semester. At the conclusion of your participation, you will be provided a blue slip verifying your attendance which you can submit to the EOP office. In addition, if you are experiencing academic challenges, EOP offers an Academic Success Workshop series.

The Backyard Boogie: EOP & Pan African Student Resource Center (PASRC) Resources & Support Mixer (Alisa Carithers)
Join other students along with the Pan African Student Resource Center and the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) for the "Backyard Boogie" Mixer! Find on campus resources and support, meet student organizations, staff and faculty and enjoy food, games, prizes and music. Feel free to come in your favorite 90's attire, and do not forget your Double Dutch Shoes!

The ABC's of GE, PRE and MSC (Tanya Maxwell)
Understanding your General Education (GE) requirements is your GPS to graduate within your major. This workshop will help you to understand GEs, what it means to be in a PRE major and the Major Specific Criteria (MSC) needed to declare a major.

First Year Celebration
EOP's First Year Celebraton congratulates the first year undergraduate freshman and transfer students, in completing their first semester through student engagement and academic support. It also services to increase their excitement with starting the spring semester, in an effort to promote a positive mindest.

Learning Strategies for Academic Success (Tanya Maxwell)
Students will develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will promote time management and academic success. Students will learn to effectively create balance between academic, social and personal time to achieve their goals. Students will be given the opportunity to share their best practices for academic success.

Finding the Perfect Major at Cal State LA (Gregorio Alcantar)
Students will learn how to narrow 57 possible majors down to the perfect one. We will use an exploratory approach and discuss how majors are grouped into the various colleges. Those already in a major are welcomed to attend as well.

What is Budgeting, and Why is it Important? (Trisha Brewster)
Budgeting allows you to create a spending plan for your money. It ensures that you will always have enough money for the things you need and the things that are important to you. This workshop will teach you how to create and follow a budge while teaching you to set financial goals for your upward mobility.

Do you have questions about your upcoming semester classes? Attend the Priority Registration workshop to learn what classes you may take, and how to register! Feel free to bring a laptop (if available) as there will be time to add your classes on GET. If you are thinking about taking summer courses at a community college, then this workshop is for you! Come learn how to use the online tool Assist.org, the official transfer and articulation system for California’s public colleges and universities. Assist.org will help you to review which community college courses can be transferred to Cal State LA and applied towards your degree.

We will explore and discuss all these opportunities in depth. Its going ot be hot, hot, hot!

This is an informational workshop for students attending summer school at Cal State LA. We will discuss summer pell options and you will have the opportunity to take two (FREE courses (6 units) offered by EOP Summer Learning community.

Are You Ready for Finals? Mentally and Physically (Ricardo Ramos)
This Program is a hands-on wellness workshop that teaches you how to mentally and physically prepare yourself for finals. Come learn which types of foods will improve your cognitive skills, how to keep your body fit for finals and how to relax the mind from test anxiety. In addition, you will learn about campus resources and quick tips on how to better prepare for finals.
