EdD Admission and Application Information

 

  Our Ed.D. Priority Application deadline is December 31st.
The Ed.D. Program will be accepting applications ongoing until our new cohort is full.

*Completed priority deadline Ed.D. Applications will be reviewed first.

  • NEW! The EdD Program will use CSU APPLY for the university and the program supplemental applications.
  • We accept one new cohort every fall semester.  Ed.D. Information Flyer
  • New online applications are available in the month of October for the following fall semester
  • All final documents must be submitted before our applications close on May 31st

Apply to the University and the Ed.D. Program through Cal State APPLY

  • NOTE: In order to qualify for our doctorate program, you must have a minimum cumulative 3.25 or above GPA in your Master's graduate study program.

  • International Students:  California Legislation Education Code 66040; International students who apply to our Ed.D. Doctoral Program at Cal State Los Angeles must plan to pursue leadership positions in PreK-16 in the State of California.

Supplemental Ed.D. Application:  Use CSU Apply "Program Materials"

  • Complete all required sections of your Ed.D. program application which will require you to upload:

    • A Statement of Purpose - (answer 3 Ed.D. question prompts on application, 1/2-1 page per prompt)

    • Professional Resume

    • A Writing Sample (showcases your best writing abilities)

    • GRE scores (If you haven't taken the exam, you must choose a test day before May 31st. An upload an ETS email confimation of your test date will be temporarily accepted.)

    • Email Addresses of your chosen "Recommenders". Must include personal letter from each recommender to upload.

    • Unofficial Transcripts from each college of attendance for uploading. Transcripts from foreign countries must be evaluated by one of these two services IERF or WES.

Mail Official Transcripts/Test Scores to Cal State LA

  • Please send sealed official transcripts (Submitting Transcripts/Test Scores to Admissions) from all universities you have attended. If you attended Cal State LA as an undergraduate or post-baccalaureate student, Cal State LA will have those transcripts on file for use on your university application.

  • You must mail or deliver your official transcripts to:

    • Walk-in Campus Location: Student Services Center. Admissions Office, Student Affairs Building, Room 101

Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test

  •  SCORES MUST BE WITHIN 5 YEARS OF APPLYING to the Ed.D. Program

  •  SCORES from all three sections of the GRE General Test are required www.ets.org

  •  Exam must be taken and scores submitted to the university by May, 31st to be considered for Fall admission

*Please use the following identifying codes to have your scores sent to us:
        1) Institution Code for GRE is 4399, California State University, Los Angeles; and
        2) ETS Program codes is 3003, Educational Leadership
