The College of ECST believes academic advising is an essential part of student success. We are committed to delivering quality advising services to our students to assist them achieve their educational, career, and personal goals. We do this by nurturing a culture where students take responsibility, actively participate in the advising process, and by using a full range of institutional resources. To deliver advising services, our college practices a split advising model in which advising is carried out by professional staff advisors in the ECST Advising Center (EAC), which is housed in the ECST Student Success Center (ESSC), and by faculty advisors in their departments.

ALTERNATIVE ADVISING

March 23: Alternative Advising Begins

Advisors will use means of advising that do NOT involve face-to-face gatherings such as Microsoft Teams (available on CSULA Portal), ZOOM, phone call, or email. Our preferred method of advising is Microsoft Teams because it provides several features such as live chats, phone calls, video conferencing, rapid response for quick questions from an advisor during business hours, and a virtual forum (Coming Soon!!) for students to continue building community, all in one platform! We recommend that you download the Microsoft Teams App on your phone and your computer. However, students will have a choice of how to experience their advising appointment. For Microsoft Teams and ZOOM Training Videos, scroll down on this page.
