On Launch Day, ECST Capstone Senior Design Program students will sit down for the first time with their peers, an industry partner, and a faculty advisor to discuss their year-long project as a team. As the months unfold, students will exercise their teamwork and communication skills as they apply their technical and theoretical training to their project. Teams work within project constraints and specifications to design, build, test, and ultimately present a project solution to their industry partner.

The ECST Capstone Senior Design Program projects provide students with a capstone experience in which they apply their theoretical and classroom knowledge to real-world applications. The program engages students in an industry-defined problem, where students work with a real client (the company or industry partner) to solve an actual problem under the direction of a faculty advisor and a client liaison. The end product may be a physical prototype, a software package, a technical design, or an operational algorithm. Student teams are expected to meet project milestones, provide team updates, and deliver a final presentation that meets the needs of their client and delivers a useful product at the end of the academic year.
