CAPS Scholarship

A CAPS scholar will receive and renew scholarships each year until their senior year. Actual awards will be based on the demonstrated needs.

  • Application Eligibility
    • Must be a rising sophomore/junior student in Civil Engineering (CE), Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE), or Mechanical Engineering (ME)
      • For Fall 2022 recruitment, sophomore and junior students are elibigle.
    • Be in need of financial help (defined by the U.S. Department of Education rules for need-based FAFSA)
    • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident
  • Maintaining Eligibility (Each Term)
    • Remain enrolled in Civil Engineering (CE), Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE), or Mechanical Engineering (ME).
    • Be in need of financial help (defined by the U.S. Department of Education rules for need-based FAFSA).
    • Register for and complete a minimum of 12 units counting towards your degree requirements.
    • Must make satisfactory progress towards your degree - receive at least a 3.0 term GPA, maintain a minimum overall Cal State LA GPA of 3.0 with a minimum 2.7 Major GPA (courses required for your major, including math, science, and technology courses.
    • Must actively participate in the program activities schedule permitting
    • Must exhibit proper communication etiquette (clear, timely, and respectful) 
  • Program Activities:
    • Must meet an assigned Mentor+ advisor
    • Complete lower division required major courses including Math and Physics during the first scholarship year 
    • Attend Cohort Gatherings
    • Attend Professional Development Events (field Trips, seminars, conferences, and etc.)
    • Participate in ECST Social Media Activities
