1. Where is Cal State LA Downtown located?

2. What types of courses/programs do you offer?

Cal State LA offers a variety degree programs, certificate programs and professional development courses in diverse fields.

3. When are classes held?

Classes are held:

Monday - Friday between 8:00am and 10:00pm (Courses are generally offered once per week in the evenings Monday - Thursday.)

Saturdays between 9:00am and 5:00pm

4. When can I start taking classes?

5. How do I register for classes?

Registration procedures vary by program and degree type. Please view individual program admissions and registration information by selecting from the menu found here

6. Do you require an application to start taking classes?

Students wishing to enroll in degree and certificate programs require a formal admission process. The application process will vary depending on the program of interest. For application information, Click here

7. Do you accept financial aid?

Financial aid may be used for those programs that are approved under the Gainful Employment Act. In anticipation of federal financial aid, students are encouraged to complete a FAFSA to save time when federal financial aid options are announced. The FAFSA is available at

8. What types of payments do you accept?

Most major credit cards and debit cards may be used when registering online through the PaGE Online Portal. If registering in person, only Visa or MasterCard are accepted.

10. Is Cal State LA Downtown accessible by public transportation?

Yes, Cal State LA Downtown can easily be reached by Metro Rail, Bus and Metrolink. The 7th Street Metro Center Station is three blocks from Cal State LA Downtown and is served by the Metro Red, Purple, Blue and Expo Lines.  A variety of MTA bus lines stop near the corner of 8th Street and Grand Avenue as well. You may visit for more information about public transportation and schedules. 

11. Where can I park?

Parking is available in the above ground structure located at 801. S. Grand Avenue. The structure is accessible from Grand Avenue Monday-Friday until 7:00 PM and from 8th Street Monday-Friday after 7:00 PM and on Saturdays.

Students pay $4.00 for the first four hours after 4:00 PM and the posted rate of $8.00 for each hour thereafter. Other parking lots and structures are available in the vicinity
