Students must successfully complete the following required courses:
Security Risk Management and Internal Controls
Prerequisite: CIS 301. Introduction to information security risk management including internal controls, operations security, risk assessment, incident management, business continuity and disaster recovery planning, legal issues and ethics, information security program development.
Prerequisite: CIS 301 or equivalent or permission of instructor. Broad coverage of common body of knowledge for information security: access control; application security; business continuity; cryptography; legal investigations; network and internet security; operations security; physical security; risk management; security architecture.
Network Security Essentials and Practice
Prerequisite: CIS 120 or equivalent. Introduction to practical computer and network security. Hands-on projects help students to establish the direct experience of using a large array of software program tools on information system security.
Security Operations, Protection, Incident and Disaster Response
Security assessment and testing to sustain systems and capabilities. Regular tasks of security operations to protect assets. Investigation and incident management, capability for an effective response that allows the organization to resume or continue operations under adverse or abnormal conditions.
Students must earn a minimum 3.0 GPA in order to receive the certificate.
