Certificate Program in Leadership in Downtown LA

Alternative instruction will continue for Fall 2020 semester. Students should remain in communication with their instructors and follow their instructions.

Program Description

Offered at Cal State LA Downtown, the non-credit Certificate Program in Leadership develops leaders at all stages of career growth and professional development, including aspirational leaders. Designed to increase the capacity for change and adaptation for newly oriented leaders or those seeking leadership roles, Cal State LA's program helps individuals develop and master core competencies for both themselves and their teams. Dr. Glickman's (see instructor bio below) curriculum provides action learning opportunities for students to explore and develop a leadership style that is authentic, empowers and fosters collaboration with others to create positive change in their lives, communities, and workplaces. Developing leadership skills around communication (persuasiveness and listening), diversity and inclusion are incorporated throughout the program providing students learning opportunities to hone their unique strengths even further.

Program Approach:

  1. Develops leaders at all stages of career growth and professional development.
  2. Increases the capacity for change and adaptation for newly oriented leaders or those seeking leadership roles.
  3. Helps participants broaden their perspectives through action learning opportunities to practice tried and true techniques used in the real world in an environment conducive to learning.
  4. Helps participants learn how to develop a leadership style that is authentic and fosters collaboration with others to create positive change in their lives, communities, and workplaces.

About the Instructor

Instructor Ronald S. Glickman is smiling. He wears glasses and has brown hair.Ronald S. Glickman, Ed.D. is a seasoned business leader with a proven track record for transforming organizations from inefficient and underperforming to efficient and effective. For more than 30 years, he has been a change leader who develops high potential talent and motivates culturally diverse teams to deliver breakthrough results. Ron is passionate about change leadership. Throughout his career, a dual focus on “performing while transforming” has been the cornerstone of his change leadership philosophy in national non-profit and global for-profit organizations. Ron is currently the Chief Information Officer for Trader Joe’s Corporation. He holds a BBA from National University, an MBA from the University of Southern California, and an Ed.D. from the Charter College of Education at California State University Los Angeles, where he teaches managerial leadership in the College of Business and Economics, and the College of Professional and Global Education.

Enroll/Register

The Fall 2020 program will meet via Zoom on the listed times and dates above. The instructor and participants will actively engage in live discussions and lectures. Login information will be emailed to registered participants a week before the program begins. As a result, it is required that you register by Friday, September 4, 2020, to ensure you receive all crucial information to start the program.
