The Cave Dwellers
The Cave Dwellers made its debut in New York in 1957 and marked the writer William Saroyan’s return to Broadway. The play is set among a group of misfits--former actors and a defeated boxer among them--who form their own protective cocoon in an abandoned theater on the Lower East Side sometime in the mid-20th century and draw on their instincts for charity and good will. This production coincides with the statewide "William Saroyan Centennial," celebrating the 100th anniversary of his birth.
