CSLAs Argentine MA TESOL Program at ICANA
In the Fall of 1995, a group of 19 Argentine English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers began course work in the TESOL MA program, an external degree program that is a joint endeavor between the Cal State LA (CSLA) Charter School of Education, the CSLA Office of Continuing Education and the Instituto Cultural Norteamericano (ICANA) in Buenos Aires. The TESOL MA program is a 45 quarter unit course of study aimed at teachers who work with students from all levels of the Argentine educational system. The courses are taught by CSLA TESOL faculty who travel to Argentina for intensive five week terms. As of the end of the Fall quarter 1996, the Argentine students are approximately half-way through the program. They will be at CSLA for the first part of the Winter 1997 quarter to take two additional courses, and we hope that our other students and colleagues in the Los Angeles area will have a chance to meet and interact with them during their stay here.
ICANA was founded in 1927 to promote the bilateral appreciation of the Argentine and
United States cultures and to facilitate cultural exchanges between the two
countries.
