Admissions
Undergraduate Program
For general admissions information, refer to the
Office of Admissions and University Outreach
There are additional requirements to enter the School of Nursing
Programs. All undergraduate nursing students must have completed the
following prerequisites or their equivalents before taking their first
nursing class:
BIOL 200A & 200B Human Anatomy &
Physiology minimum 4 Sem/5Qtr Units each
CHEM 151 Fundamentals of Chemistry (inorganic chemistry) minimum 4 Sem/5
Qtr Units
ENGL 101 Composition minimum 3 Sem/4 Qtr Units
PSY 150 Introductory Psychology minimum 3 Sem/4 Qtr Units
Critical Thinking (PHIL 160 or PHIL 250 or POLS 155 or COMM 176) minimum
3 Sem/4 Qtr Units COMM 150 Public Speaking minimum 3 Sem/4 Qtr Units
MICRO 201, 202 Microbiology with lab minimum 4 Sem/6 Qtr Units
Sociology 201 and NTRS 250 or 317 (4 qtr units each) are prerequisites
for the first quarter of Nursing but not for admission.
A separate application is required for the pre-licensure generic
program. Applications are submitted in the fall after most of the
prerequisites have been completed for the following academic year.

contacting the School of Nursing Advisement Office in Simpson Tower Room
415 (323) 343-4730. Only hard copies furnished by the school will be
accepted as applications.
Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) test dates
for academic year 2009-2010 admission application cycle will be:
Friday December 19 2008 and Saturday December
20, 2008 on the CSULA campus
This information is also part of the 2009-2010 application packet
RNs who wish to pursue the RN-BSN Program or the Accelerated RN-MSN
program must contact the Nursing Advisement Office and register for an
orientation before being allowed to take any nursing classes. Nursing
Majors only start Nursing in the Fall and the Spring Quarters although
they may take University classes prior to that. Orientations will
generally be held on the Wednesday before classes start in the Fall and
during the tenth week of classes in Winter Quarter.

Graduate Program
For general admissions requirements for graduate programs, refer to
the
Office of Admissions and University Outreach.
A separate application is required for the all Nurse Practitioner
programs. Applications are being accepted now or until all program
openings are filled. Applications are obtained by contacting the School
of Nursing Advisement Office (323) 343-4730.
The following material must be submitted along with the application:

Two professional references: one from a supervisor and another
from a supervisor or past university instructor.
·
A typed essay highlighting professional goals, reason for
expanding your professional role to become a nurse practitioner, and
examples that illustrate your ability and potential for working as a
nursing practitioner (maximum two pages).

One set of Official Transcripts (all universities and colleges
attended) mailed directly to the Nurse Practitioner Program Office.
·
A copy of Current California Registered Nurse License.
