The Bachelors Program in
Nutritional Science
Program Philosophy
The overall goal of the bachelors in the
Nutritional Science program is to prepare students for graduate studies
or for entry level positions in nutrition, dietetics, food service
management or food science.
Students may select
one of two options:
The Nutritional Science
Option--Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD)
The Nutritional Science option (DPD)
prepares students to work as nutritionists or continue their education
at the Masters level. In addition, the Nutritional Science option
prepares students to enter dietetics internships approved by the
American Dietetic Association.
Coordinated Dietetics Program (CDP)
The Coordinated Dietetics Program (CDP) option is designed for
persons seeking both academic course work and supervised practice
required to qualify to take the examination to become a Registered
Dietitian (RD).
Requirements for the Options:
- Nutritional Science
- Admission to Cal State LA
- Grade C or better in all program coursework
CDP
- Application to the program
- Grade Point Average of 2.75 or better
