Employment for Geologists

The Department of Geological Sciences has a long history of preparing students for employment in engineering geology, hydrogeology, and other applied aspects of the science.  This page is designed to enable you to find an employer and properly present yourself for successful employment.  You will learn about the licensing of geologists and the names of potential employers in southern California.

First Steps to a Career teaches you to find an employer, market your skills, prepare a resume, write a letter of application, and a thank you letter.  Questions that you might encounter on an interview are provided.

Earth Science Employment lists over 100 employers of Cal State LA alumni in southern California.

Geologic Licensure introduces the rules that govern the licensing of geologists and geophysicists in California.

Employment Opportunities encourages employers to contact the department regarding their position openings.
