Call for Participation - Winter 2015

Call for Participants
Flipped, Hybrid, Online Institute (Winter 2015)
Deadline to apply is April 17, 2015

The Cal State L.A. Center for Effective Teaching and Learning (CETL) is sponsoring a Faculty Institute during the Winter 2015 quarter to assist those interested in course redesign from the traditional format to a technology-enhanced, flipped, and/or hybrid format.  This five-day series is for faculty open to new discovery in their own teaching and learning and who are willing and able to learn new technology tools.  Faculty need not have extensive knowledge or experience of educational technology to apply, however all applicants should have basic experience using Moodle for their courses. This is a great opportunity for people who are interested in converting to flipped, or blended/hybrid models for Semester Conversion (Q2S).

Participants will learn best practices and models to re-conceptualize a current course that they teach. To ensure quality, courses will incorporate online teaching best practices and the Quality in Online Learning and Teaching (QOLT) Rubric.

There are a limited number of seats in this Institute.  Participants should be willing to redesign a course that they will teach in an upcoming term.  Participants must be available for all five Friday meetings (see schedule below).

A Learning Material Grant of $500 will be awarded to each institute member and will be available after the Final Presentation meeting on Friday, March 20, 2015.  Payment is contingent on participation in all scheduled Institute activities, including a final presentation on their progress throughout the Institute. Institute facilitators will provide all reading and curricular materials.

Institute Expectations
Meeting attendance is mandatory for all five Friday meetings (see schedule below).  At the conclusion of the Institute, participants have one deliverable: A final presentation on the new course design, and plans for next steps in their course development.
