Young Writers' Camp at CSULA

The Young Writers' Camp at Los Angeles Writing Project  sponsors a three-week Summer Program for Young Writers. The program will be conducted under the direction of distinguished university faculty members and a staff of outstanding, certificated classroom teachers, all of whom are expert teachers of writing and teacher-consultants of the Los Angeles Writing Project.

The Young Writers' Camp, for students entering grades 1st-11th, features daily writing workshops introducing students to the writing process, to strategies of professional writers, and to a variety of writing types. Writing workshops are also blended with activities in other creative arts, including drama, music, storytelling, drawing, and painting.

The Young Writers will tour the campus and visit the college bookstore and have access to a broad range of stimulating facilities: the art museum, the music department, the library. In a summer camp environment the Young Writers’ Camp seeks to enrich the literary skills and develop the creativity of all camper-writers and build an on-going and continually expanding community of young writers and readers.
