Welcome to the University Tutorial Center web site. The University Tutorial Center's mission is to help Cal State L.A. students to better prepare, improve their knowledge and understanding, and develop the skills necessary to succeed in college.  

The University Tutorial Center's tutors will assist you to become a more confident, effective, independent learner by not doing your work for you but by enabling and encouraging you to do your own work through a collaborative, interactive process. Develop your knowledge, understanding, and skills in a variety of different undergraduate courses in business, mathematics, the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Improve your study skills (time management, note-taking, and test-taking).

The University Tutorial Center's tutorial services are:

  • Free to currently-enrolled Cal State L.A. students with CSULA student photo I.D. card.
  • Easy to use and available to use on a one-to-one scheduled appointment appointment basis.
  • Successful in developing skills and increasing knowledge and understanding of course subject matter as reported by over 98% of the students tutored.
  • Centrally located and easily accessible on the first floor of the Palmer Wing (formerly Library South) of the John F. Kennedy Library.
  • Staffed by qualified, trained faculty-recommended peer tutors certified by the International Tutor Certification Program of the College Reading and Learning Association.
  • Operated by a friendly, helpful student office staff.
  • Funded by the Division of Academic Affairs and the Educational Opportunity Program.

The Center's Hours for Fall 2008

                   Monday and Wednesday:    10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.                                 

                   Tuesday and Thursday:       10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

                   Friday:                                         9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

                       The Center will re-open on Monday, September 22
