California State University Executive Order 665

Effective Fall 1998, CSU Executive Order 665 requires the following:

• All incoming freshmen in the CSU System must take the English Placement Test (EPT)
• All incoming freshmen in the CSU System must take the Entry Level Mathematics (ELM) test
• One or both tests must be taken prior to enrollment in the CSU unless exempted by SAT and/or ACT scores, and/or EAP status
• Both tests are placement tools determining eligibility to enroll in a specific course
• Students required to take these placement tools but fail to do so will not be allowed to register for courses until this requirement is completed
