From the Service-Learning and Community Engagement at CSULA, Strategic Plan 2007-2012
VISION: We envision students, faculty, and community partners working collectively to enhance academic culture, address community issues, and act as catalysts for social change.
MISSION: Our mission is to link academic teaching, learning and community service by engaging students, faculty, and community partners in collaborative relationships that embrace diversity and social justice. We support a broader university-wide culture of community engagement that contributes to student success and prepares students to serve the changing needs of a global society.
During the next five years, we will strive to achieve the following goals:
Goal 1: Create an institutional infrastructure dedicated to supporting collaborative relationships between faculty, community partners, and students
Goal 2: Increase faculty involvement and leadership in service-learning and community engagement
Goal 3: Promote dynamic partnerships that identify and address community needs
Goal 4: Foster campus-wide awareness of and institutional commitment to service-learning and community engagement at CSULA
