Jonathan Huang presents LaaF30...
Just My Type: AN IN-DEPTH LOOK OF TYPOGRAPHY AND ITâS EFFECTS ON HOW THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPED OVER THE LAZY DOG
Sunday, November 28, 2010
ABSTRACT: After the first LaaF lecture on fonts, you thought you were safe as long as you stayed away from typing in all caps with comic sans. But when word got out about another font-lecture on the horizon, all hel(vetica) broke loose... beginning with a proliferation of speculative titles, a flurry of results from http://www.pentagram.com/what-type-are-you/, and a brief consideration of font-based foods (such as curry-er neue and hot wingdings) all recorded for posterity in an epic email thread (94 by the end of the frenzy). Join us as our resident graphic designer makes fun of bad type, exhorts the importance of good type, and forces us to chant "Yes we kern!"
SPEAKER BIO: Jonathan Huang has enraged and delighted us before with the foibles of fonts. Now, he's bringing typography into the kerrfuffle along with his irreverent yet theologically sound t-shirt ideas and a beautifully type-set presentation.
