From Meeting to Marriage

in a Matter of Minutes

Sunday, February 22, 2009

ABSTRACT: Modern romantic relationships have key milestones that indicate its development: meeting, flirting, dating, engagement, marriage. For many couples, progressing from one stage to the next often takes place over the course of months or even years. In Disney movies (as well as many other films) characters will meet each other and decide to marry within a matter of days. Such an accelerated timeline of love could cause alarm to friends in real life, but is accepted as normal in the Disney world. I will explore possible reasons for these differences as well as question the influence these movies have on our perception of romance.

SPEAKER BIO: LaaF historians have attributed the phenomenal success of the organization to the inaugural talk given by Miles Chen on the seemingly odd (for a straight man) topic of James Marsden. Miles is this generation’s preeminent authority on dating in the Asian-American Christian world (click to see his featured content xanga article that received 1672 eprops) and a voice to all those who contemplate the combination of statistics and relationship issues in the modern age. He is often seen making Flip videos, primarily of himself throwing duct taped objects into a pool or dancing with his signature angular style.
