The Los Angeles  Writing Project  is sponsoring a three-week Summer Program for Young Writers. The program will be conducted under the direction of distinguished university faculty members and a staff of outstanding, certificated classroom teachers, all of whom are expert teachers of writing and Teacher Consultants of the Los Angeles Writing Project at Cal State LA.

The Young Writers' Camp: For students entering grades 2nd-11th, featuring daily writing workshops introducing students to the strategies of professional writers and to a variety of writing forms. Writing workshops are also blended with activities in other creative arts, including drama, music, drawing, and painting. Staff members include experienced oral storytellers who will teach students the traditional art of weaving their own stories.

The Young Writers will tour the campus and visit the college bookstore and have access to a broad range of stimulating facilities: the art museum, the music department, and the library. In a summer camp environment the Young Writers' Camp seeks to enrich the literacy skills and develop the creativity of all camper-writers and build an on-going and continually expanding community of young writers and readers.
