Note that Biol 100A can substitute for the GE Area B 1 course (biology with lab, specifically Biol 155, 156 or Micr 151), and Math 206 will substitute for the Math 102 requirement. Among the electives, Biol 300, Biol 340, Biol 360 (with adviser approval), and Biol 408 can double count as electives in related fields for the BA degree in Mathematics (up to 8 units). For the BS degree in Mathematics, Biol 100B and Biol 100C can double count as lower division electives.
For the 12 units upper division electives, the following courses are recommended (prerequisites beyond the required courses are listed in parentheses)
- Biol 300 Biometrics (Math 103)
- Biol 340 General Genetics (Biol 300)
- Biol 360 General Ecology (Biol 300)
- Biol 408 Experimental Design and Advanced Biometry (Biol 300)
- Biol 412 Human Genetics (Biol 340)
- Biol 414 Cytogenetics (Biol 340)
- Biol 415 Population Genetics (Biol 340)
- Biol 418 Evolution (Biol 340)
- Biol 462 Plant Ecology (Biol 360)
- Biol 470 Conservation Biology (Biol 360)
- Biol 472 Marine Ecology (Biol 360)
- Biol 473 Molecular Ecology (Biol 360)
