XiKou Xuedou Moutains Scenic Area

The Xikou Xuedou Mountains Scenic Area was referred to as "Penglai (a famous tourist attraction in Shandong Province) at Sea" even in Han Dynasty. The scenic area, 35 kilometers away from Ningbo, consists of Xikou (Brook Mouth) Town, Xuedou (Snow Hole) Mountains and Tingxia (Below the Pavilion) Lake. The overall sightseeing area is 85 square meters with more than 60 scenic spots.

The Xikou area has the Former Residences of Chiang Kai-shek as the leading sight.It stresses the sights of cultural sites and attractions which are surrounded either by clear water or green bamboo. The picturesque landscape of the pines on the ridges reflected on water arouses one's poetic emotions. The main scenic spots are: Fenggao House, Small Western House, Yutai Salt Shop, Wenchang Pavilion and Wuling Gate.

Xuedou Mountains has been called "The First Mountain in Siming Mountains". It is said that Emperor Ren Zong in Song Dynasty once dreamed of visiting the mountain. So it is alsonamed "Dreamed Mountain". In South Song Dynasty, the Xuedou Temple of Maitreya's bodhimandala was one of the ten ancient temples of Chan Buddhism in China. In 1984, Mr Zhao Puchu, Director of China Buddhism Association, named it one of the five Buddhist Mountains in China. The main sights of the Xuedou Area are Xufu Rock, Sanyin Pond, Miaogao Terrace, Qianzhang (thousand-yard) Rock and Waterfall, Pavilion of Imperial Inscription, and Site of China Travel Service.

Tingxia Lake area has beautiful natural landscape of lake and mountains with the lake surface occupying 5.9 square meters, where they are rich in fish and fruits. The sights are Jingui Xishui (Gold Tortoise Playing with Water) and Xiaosanxia (Small Three Gorges).

Xikou Xuedou Mountains Scenic Area is a major tourist attraction of state-level and has become forest Park of state-level.
