Old Chenghuang (town's God) Temple

Ningbo Chenghuang Temple, also Jun (prefecture) Temple, is popularly called Old Chenghuang Temple. In 1347 Emperor Zhu Yuan Zhang (Ming Dynasty) gave orders to construct Chenghuang Temple at the Prefecture of Ningbo with a view to bring peace to people for the prosperity of the country. The whole construction is of peculiarity consisting of Menqian Zhaobi Gongqiang (Arched Gateway with an opposite Screen Wall), Damen Mingtang (Bright Hall), Yimen Xitai ( Yimen Stage), Qian Dian (Front Hall), Hou Dian (Back Hall), and its total construction area is 4,700 sqaure meters, one of the biggest Chenghuang temples in China. The style of the construction is the mixture of the best construction from Ming and Qing dynasties. In Ningbo, it is thefirst selected tourist attraction and place for businessmen from different parts of the country and has been prosperous since Ming Dynasty.

Over more than ten years of development or construction, the temple area now has the street of new temple and old temple, food city, Guotai handicraft, and a mall and the Shopping Centre of Asia with a planned area of 100,000 square meters and a construction area of 70,000 square meters. The temple has become a shopping centre of both dining and touring in the downtown area.

Old Chenghuang Temple is a historical and cultural site under municipal protection and has been officially recommended as the tourist shopping centre.
