Surrounding the downtown Ningbo on three sides, Yinxian County covers an area of 1,380 sq.km. It has the cultivated area of 540,000 mu , forest of 1 million mu and the coastline of 24 km. It encompasses 23 towns, 2 industry zones and has a population of 730,000.

With the reform and opening up, Yinxian County has witnessed the fast growth of economy and social courses. It is ranked the 18th on comprehensive economic strength, the 14th on local financial revenue, and the 11th on per capita financial revenue among the 41 most powerful counties in China. In 2000, its GDP hit 15.4 billion yuan, up 12.9% over the previous year. Its revenue income within budget was 1.4 billion yuan, up 40% over the previous year.

The industrial basis in Yinxian County is good. In 2000 its increasing output value of industry reached 10.1 billion yuan. An industrial set-up has come into being with textile and garments, machinery and electronics, auto-fittings, foodstuff as the mainstay. There are 3 state-level, 27 municipality and county level hi-tech enterprises in the county with strong capability in technical innovation and development. The county has 16 municipality and county level engineering & technology research centers. Yinxian County is the leading producer of garments in China with the annual output value of 10 billion yuan. "Firs" brand suits and "Youngor" brand shirts, which are listed on the top 10 garments in the country are produced in the county.

Yinxian County enjoys a steady development of foreign trade. By the end of 2000, there were 458 foreign-funded enterprises with USD 320 million contracted foreign investment, USD 250 million actual utilization of foreign investment in the county. The top 500 international corporations in the world have invested in the county such as Daiei Co, Itochu Texmac Co, Tomen Corp. , Marubeni Co. and so on. In 2000, its self-managed import and export volume reached USD 806 million with USD 640 million self-managed export volume. The products were marketed in nearly 133 counties and regions in the world. It is ranked 1st on export volume among all counties in Ningbo administrative region and 2nd in Zhejiang Province. Yinxian County is the fifth in whole country and 1st in the province in owning the foreign economic& technical exchanges. Now it has set up 33 enterprises overseas and more than 600 workers were working overseas.

Yinxian County enjoys excellent investment environment. The infrastructure in the county is perfect with convenient telecommunication, adequate water and power resources. The transportation facility is good. Ningbo Lishe International Airport, the termination of Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway, railway to Beilun Port, major high way transportation line in China from Tongjiang of Heilongjiang Province to Sanya of Hainan Province all cross the county. It is only 2 km away from central area in the county to the airport, less than 20 km away from the county to Beilun Port. Yinxian County Central Zone

Starting to develop in March, 1995, Yinxian County Central Zone will be the political, economic and cultural center of the county in the future. Located less than 2 km. away from downtown Ningbo and Ningbo Airport, it covers an area of 33 sq. km. 12 sq. km. will be initially developed, among which, 5 sq. km. is an industry park with a total population of 120,000. According to the long-term plan, the total population will be 200,000 in 2010.

With 5 years' development, it has witnessed the great achievements. The accumulated construction investment reached 1.6 billion Yuan with the complement of "three vertical and three horizontal "main roads such as North Ningnan road, Tiangtong road, Shongjiang road, North Qianhu road, Yinxian Great Avenue. The basic infrastructure such as water, power, steam and telecommunication has been completed. By the end of 2000, 210 projects have been approved with the total investment of 6.943 billion yuan. There are 17 projects whose total whose investment are over 0.1 billion yuan. The accumulated sold land reaches 6889.71 mu. 20 projects are foreign-invested projects, with contractual investment of USD 99.5 million.

Yinxian County Industry Park

Located on the east part of Yinxian County Central Zone, neighbouring Ningbo downtown, Yinxian County Industry Park has obvious geographic advantage. Its planning scope is east to No.702 provincial road, south to Yinxain Great Avenue, west and north to Shantong state road with total area of 11.8 sq. km. The first phase will develop the district east to Yongjin railway under construction south to Yinxian Great Avenue, North and west to Shantong state road with area of 7 sq.km.

As one of the main area of foreign investment promotion, Yinxian Industry Park take the foreign-funded enterprises and hi-tech enterprises into the Park as its main goal, meanwhile, it tries its best to built the perfect investment environment suitable for high standard foreign-invested projects and hi-tech industrial enterprises. At present, the general programme has been determined. The basic infrastructure such as water, power, telecommunication, transportation, sewage treatment is under construction, the total investment in this year will hit 0.2 billion yuan.

DONGQIAN LAKE TOURISM DISTRICT

Situated in the east and 7.8 km off the city of Ningbo, Dongqian Lake has a perimeter length of 45 km and water area of 20 square km. It is the largest fresh water lake in Zhejiang Province and named as the provincial tourism district by province government in 1985. The district, with planned area of 121 square km, teems with scenic spots and historic relics is a tourist resort that combines sight seeing with summer retreat and entertainment. The district roads are all renovated with digital programmed telephone wide distributed and auxiliary facilities of power and water supply properly provided. The Dongqian Lake Hotel, Dongqian Lake Sanatorium, Floating Restaurant and Floating Paradise have been built one after another to cater to tourists. Also the first golf course---Ningbo Qixing Green World Golf Club and the first botanical garden-Ningbo Wild Animal Zoo have opened to outside. Other historic relics and scenic spots at the lakeside include Wang Anshi Memorial Hall, Saint Yue' Temple, Tiny Putuo, Yin County children's Centre, Sha Menghai College and Xiayu Park. By the end of 2000, there was 12 foreign-funded projects set up in the district with actual utilization of foreign investment USD 10 million. Dongqian Lake the pearl of East Sea, the historical well-known lake with the praise of "Beauty of West Lake and the Magnificence of Tailand" will shine charming and promising light in the new centry.

¡¡Meixu Industry District

Meixu Industry district is located on the center of new developing general programme of Ningbo city with 6.5 km away from Ningbo downtown in west, 18 km away from Beilun Port in east, neighbouring the ideal water way Yongjiang River in north. The transportation in the district is very convenient.Two of Ningbo main roads ----Tongdu road and Jiangnan road passes the district. Hangyong high way and Tongshan road is near the district.

The district covers an area of 16.9 sq. km., among which 3 sq.km. has been developed. So far, the infrastructure such as the cement road, water plant, power station, transforming substation, sewage treatment station have been put into use, with the total investment of 100 million yuan. Other facilities like shops, villas, entertainment center have been set up. By the end of 2000, over 182 enterprises have been approved, among which there is 67 foreign-funded enterprises with the total investment of USD 0.15 billion, actual utilization of the foreign investment USD 60 million. There is 28 enterprises in the district whose annual sale volume is more than 5 million yuan. The multiple industry system such as electronic, mechanical, chemical, appliance and food staff industry has formed initially. After ten years development, Meixu Industry District has become one of the highest density in foreign investment and a very important window of Yinxian County opening to the outside world .
