Ningbo Lishe Airport, a grade B civil airport in China, is equipped with the advanced communication and navigation control systems. Large planes like MD-82, Boeing-737, Boeing-757 can all land and take off there.

Now,31 air routes have been opened to Shanghai, Nanjing, Beijing, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Wenzhou, Fuzhou, Shenyang, Harbin, Shenzhen, Guilin, Chengdu, Xi¡¯an, Lanzhou, Changsha, Shantou, Haikou, Dalian, Chongqin, Zhuhai, Jingjiang, Guiyang, Kunming and Hong Kong. In 2000, 1.18 million passengers departed from and arrived at the airport and 22,000-ton freights were handled. It is now among the busiest airports in China.

The development goal for Ningbo¡¯s aviation is to :expand Lishe Airport into a main-line airport according to the 4E standard;building Lishe Airport into a relatively high level one by perfecting all necessary facilities.Raise the yearly passenger transport capacity up to over 3.80 million; and make 1,700 passengers handling capacity in the rush hour, annual cargo handling capacity is 46,700 tons, M-II, 747-SP machine could be also lifted up and put down by the year 2010.

Highway

Greater Ningbo paved 5,155 kilometers, averaging 55 kilometers per square kilometer. The expressway accounts for 150 kilometers, first-class , second-class highways 2835 kilometers.With the ports as the center, the expressways, State and Provincial highways lead to cities and towns in all directions, weaving a favorable traffic network.. Roads and main highways into the city proper are all the second class or above. The main highways include No.329 State Highway leading to Hangzhou and linking Zhoushan, No.34 Provincial Highway to Taizhou and Wenzhou, and No.36 Provincial Highway to Shaoxin and Jinghua. The 145-kilometer expressway connecting Ningbo with Hangzhou was completed and put into use in 1996. It has cut down the drive from Ningbo to the provincial capital Hangzhou to only one and a half hour. In 2000, 222 million passengers and 82.19 million freights were transported through all the highways in Greater Ningbo.

1.The total length of the highway is 270 km with the newly built highway of 120 km. Three main road of national level were built, the Ningbo part of Ningbo-Jinghua highway, the west part of the round city highway, and the traffic lane of Hangzhou Bay, which basically formed the "One circle, Five lane" highway network.
2. To complete the one-hour round city highway by building 235km grade one road.
3. Renovate and build the road in the county for 1,350 km. By improving the highway technology, build up a transportation network radiating in all directions. The total length of the network will be 5,500 km and the density of road covered to be 58.7 km per hundred square kilometers.
4.The road surface of the national/provincial road to be advanced or lower-advanced, and the renovation of the road leading to the countryside to be speeded up, and the road surface to the key village to be advanced or lower-advanced. 85% of the municipal road to be in advanced level.

Waterway

Ningbo has 1.478-kilometer navigable waterways. The 252-kilometer Hangzhou-Ningbo canal connected with Beijing-Hangzhou Canal can pass 40-tonnage vessels. There are 680 vessels of 690,000 tonnages and 10679 seats for passengers. Of the 680 vessels, 12 are 10,000-tonnage vessels with a total of 307,900 tonnage. The passenger-and-car ferries and express passenger ships from Ningbo to Shanghai and Zhoushan has greatly promoted the economic exchange and passenger transport service among the three places. In 2000, the water-land transport volume totaled 1.33 million passengers and 18.29 million tons of cargo, with a turnover of 188 million tons and 53.35 million passengers per kilometer.

Basically finish the channel renovation of Hangzhou-Ningbo F lane. Enable 500 tons ship go through and make the whole channel up to the grade 4 level.
