scale: it is to annually import and transship 1 million cubic
meters of timber and to process 500,000 cubic meters.
It is forecasted by related domestic departments that
the annual insufficiency of economic timber in China will rise
from 40 million cubic meters to 90 million cubic meters between
2000 and 2010. To encourage timber import, the government has
rescinded the import tax and exclusive limitation on timber
management. Zhejiang province, a large consumer of timer, demands
several millions cubic meters of timber from abroad and other
province in China. With the economic development and the decrease
supply of timber from other provinces, Zhejiang is in an urgent
need of setting up a base for timber importing and multiprocessing.
This project will be implemented through steps according to
the general planning. The construction will include the land
development for a storage & trade zone of 400,000 sq.m.
and a processing zone of 40 million sq.m..
It is estimated that the annual business income will
reach 250 million yuan and annual profit 60 million yuna. |

& Trade, to develop Ningbo Daxie Island. |

Location Advantage
|
Daxie
Development Zone, located in the middle of Zhejiang coastline,
is suitable for establishing large-scale timber transshipping
and processing projects because of its geographical advantages,
such as 10 km deep-water coastline, perfect infrastructure,
spacious hinter-land and convenient transportation by sea and
land. Daxie Development Zone Administrative Committee would
provide preferential policies to enterprises engaged in timber
trading and processing. |
