The mission statement of the "Roger Wagner Center for Choral
Studies" is to "provide professional reassurance to
choral musicians through the development and dissemination of
materials and information." It is our intention to encourage
students of choral music to be productive as scholars and writers
on choraltopics of importance. Therefore, the RW Center maintains
an ongoing electronic journal of articles composed by student
writers.
We invite all students to submit scholarly work for review. We request that a faculty advisor's consultation be included with each submission. Articles selected for publication will appear on the RW Center gopher. Articles are reviewed by a committee of Cal State L.A.faculty and students, and edited by a panel of Cal State L.A. students.
Topics:
Topics should be selected for their contribution to the field of choral studies, including but not limited to performance, education, pedagogy, repertoire, biography, or general interest. The materials should attempt to either answer a question pertinent to the field of choral studies, or to address a clear hypothesis, making an attempt to prove or disprove the stated theory. Meeting this criteria is essential for selection.
Format:
Articles may be submitted in a variety of formats, including: e-mail, hard copy, a floppy disk- preferred in Claris Works or Word 5.1,faxed documents. The editors prefer articles to be submitted by email. Articles should be approximately 2000 words in length, including bibliography and footnotes. Please adhere to one of the standard writing style manuals.
