Established the B.S. in Engineering, Special Option in Manufacturing.
Established the Northrop Endowed Chair in Design and Manufacturing.
Established the CSLA Manufacturing Engineering Center Videotapes, Books & References, Industry Publications, Trade Journals, etc.
Successfully Obtained NSF and SME Grants to acquire Rapid Prototyping Equipment, Design and Analysis Software, and Instructional Videotapes.
Announced the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in Manufacturing Engineering through the Office of Continuing Education.
Augmented the Manufacturing Processes Laboratory with CNC Machines.
Developed the CD-ROM based tutorial for student instruction in Manufacturing Engineering.
Promoted involvement of small to medium - sized manufacturing companies in CSLA initiatives.
Arranged for presentations by manufacturing industry professionals.
Actively supported SCCEME goals and objectives.

Second Year Plans

Our Plans are to:

Complete initiatives started in year 1.
Publicize B.S. in Engineering, Special Option in Manufacturing degree program and recruit students.
Establish the Metrology Laboratory and develop courses in Metrology.
Develop courses and projects in Electronics Manufacturing.
Plan and conduct Saturday academies at CSLA, for hands-on experience in manufacturing processes for high school students.
Distribute the CD ROM multimedia instructional tool on Manufacturing to students and faculty to accomplish increased infusion.
Fill the Northrop Endowed Chair Position.
Develop an Outreach Trailer and suitably equip it.

Mission

To increase the awareness of high school and community college students, teachers, and counselors of manufacturing engineering through both information distribution and enrichment programs. To assist coalition programs in their recruitment of students.
