Alumni Spotlight - Mike Sarian

Mike Sarian Michael Sarian, is a classic Cal State LA success story.  An immigrant who came to America at 16 then graduated from Cal State LA with a BS in Business Administration (1983), has “done good” as a successful businessman and community supporter in Southern California. 

A healthcare industry leader, he is currently President of Hospital Operations for Prime Healthcare Services, which owns and operates 46 hospitals in 15 States. The $5 billion dollar company is the 5th largest for profit hospital operator in The U.S. His focus on continuous improvement have helped Prime’s hospitals regularly rank on the Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals.

His career spans over 25 years of executive management experience in healthcare that includes serving as a multi-hospital CEO, a multi-specialty medical group CEO, hospital CFO and in other senior executive and finance positions. Mike serves as an active executive board member of the California Hospital Association and the Southern California Hospital Association.

His dedication to his career is paralleled by his community engagement and service. Appreciative of the education he received, he serves as a board member for the CBE and the University of La Verne, where he received an MBA (1986).  In 2015 he shared his professional insights with academics, professionals and students as the keynote speaker of the CBE’s Journal of International and Interdisciplinary Business Research Symposium.

Mike is also active in the Armenian community. He supports the Armenian Church, local Armenian schools and other charitable organizations. For the accomplishments in his field and years of inspired service to the nation he received the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

Mr. Sarian lives in Glendale with his 7 year old daughter, who is surely as proud as we are of our inspiring alumnus.
