For the Students, By the Students
Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is governed by the ASI Board of Directors. The ASI Executive Board of Directors and professional staff manages the day-to-day operations of the corporation providing Cal State L.A. student programs and services.

The professional staff works with the ASI Board of Directors by setting policy for the Associated Students Inc., approving all funding allocations for programs and services, and advocating student interests on committees and campus boards.

The ASI Board of Directors is comprised of two representatives from each academic college on campus and four representatives at large that focus on specific areas such as community, campus, and legislative affairs. The Board meets every other Thursday at 3:15pm (ASI Calendar of Meetings 2007 -08).

ASI also has three additional branches: the Academic Senators, Judicial Review Committee, and the Cabinet of Commissioners.

The Cabinet of Commissioners (COC) consists of a Spirit, Environmental Affairs, Public Relations & Elections, Housing, and Advocacy & Outreach Commissioners. The COC provides both social and educational programming for the Cal State L.A. community. The Vice President for Administration chairs and leads the commissioners in developing ASI Programming Calendar.

Academic Senators meet with the University Academic Senate (governed by faculty) to create resolutions for the University. The Vice President for Academic Governance chairs and leads the senators.

The Judicial Review Committee handles grievances from students in the campus community and serves on the ASI bylaws and Codes of Procedures Sub-Committee.

The Finance Committee distributes funding to clubs and organizations in an effort to help them grow and serve the greater campus community.
