After you receive an official offer of admission, please follow these important steps to ensure a smooth transition to Cal State LA (click on each section to expand):

Submit the Enrollment Confirmation Deposit no later than May 1st to accept your Offer of Admission

Once you have made the decision to attend Cal State LA, you must reserve your seat in the incoming class by submitting your $100 (USD) Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD). For Fall admission, the deposit is due no later than May 1st. For more information, visit the Enrollment Confirmation Deposit webpage.

Satisfy the Terms of your Admission Offer

What is Provisional Admission?
Most first-time-freshmen applicants are still attending high school at the time of application and admission decisions are normally made on self-reported information before fall grades are available. Therefore, offers of admission for first-time freshman applicants are almost always provisional, and remain provisional until the following admission requirements are met.

All requirements must be completed by the end of the Spring term prior to enrollment at Cal State LA:
  • For graduates of US high schools:
    • Completion of the CSU A-G subject requirements with grades of “C” or higher, by the end of the Spring semester prior enrollment at Cal State LA.
    • Graduation from High School.
    • Overall final high school GPA in college preparatory courses that is the same, or higher than, what was reported on the Admission Application. While some decrease in GPA may continue to meet admission eligibility, declines below admission cutoffs will result in withdrawal of the offer.
  • For graduates of non-US secondary institutions:
    • Overall final high school/secondary level GPA of 3.00 or above, on a 4.00 scale.
    • Equivalency to the completion and obtainment of a secondary school level diploma, which may include successful examination scores.
Failure to meet these conditions will result in the rescinding of the admission offer. If readmission is desired for a future term, a new application must be submitted for that term, and applicants must meet all of the admission requirements in effect at that time.

Some students who were offered provisional admission may not qualify for the immediate issuance of the I-20 (or transfer of the SEVIS). We must verify the successful completion of "in progress (or planned)" courses before issuing the I-20. To ensure the timely issuance of your I-20, please submit final official academic records as soon as they are available, and by no later than a term's final academic record deadline. If you are affected by this requirement, you will be notified via email.

How will I know if I have met all of the Conditions of Admission?
For Fall term admission, final official High School/Secondary transcript(s) showing the date of graduation, and if applicable, qualify exam results, must be submitted no later than July 15. After final academic records are reviewed, you will receive an email sharing that your admission has been finalized, or rescinded for not meeting the conditions.

Students are allowed to attend Golden Eagle Orientation and register for classes prior to the audit of their admission decision. Some students may be required to self-report their senior grades prior to orientation to ensure they are on track for completion of the admission requirements. If the admission offer is rescinded after enrollment, the classes will be administratively dropped.

What are some Important Dates to keep in mind?
Please plan to meet the undergraduate admission deadlines for your admit term. To view the specific deadlines, visit the Admissions Deadline webpage.

Apply for your I-20 or SEVIS Transfer

Applicants holding or applying for an F-1 or J-1 visa must complete and submit the online New Student I-20 Verification Form with signatures and appropriate documentation to show proof of funding. If you are interested in attending Cal State LA, please do not wait for your admission decision before submitting these documents. The advance submission of the verification form, and financial documentation, will help expedite the issuance of the I-20; if your I-20 paperwork is complete, the International Programs Office can issue the I-20 immediately after your admission to the University.

If you are currently studying in the US, and please request to transfer your SEVIS to Cal State LA by completing and submitting the Transfer to Cal State LA Form. Please do not transfer the SEVIS until you receive the offer of admission, and you know that you plan to attend the University for the admit term.

For other important information, including the deadline for the I-20/SEVIS transfer process, please contact the International Programs Office at (323) 343-3170, international@calstatela.edu, or visit the International Programs webpage.

Submit your Final Transcript(s) no later than July 15th

To verify your final admission eligibility, please plan to submit official, final high school/secondary transcripts and, if applicable, official exam scores, after high school graduation. To be considered final, the document must include courses/grades completed through your final year of high school, and diploma completion date. If the successful passage of examinations are required for your secondary/high school diploma, please also submit the official results/marks from these exams.

If you have already graduated from high school, please submit an official transcript after you submit the Enrollment Confirmation Deposit. You do not have to wait until the final transcript deadline; documents can be submitted earlier if you have already graduated from high school.

If you took courses at a post-secondary college/university, and the credit is not noted on your secondary school transcript, please also plan to submit a separate college transcript.

For Fall admission, final transcripts (and test scores) are due July 15th. If you take college courses in the summer prior to enrolling at Cal State LA, you must submit another set of final transcript(s) with grades posted, by the supplemental transcript deadline. For more information about official academic records, and how to submit them, visit the Document Submission webpage.
